Are Missions Worth It?

"When I signed up to be a missionary in Paris, I never thought I'd be involved in anything like this. This stuff happens in Syria and Palestine, not Paris!" - Jazz Jones Becker

As we reflect as an organization on the many significant events of this past year – the surge in the refugee crisis, shifting political attitudes and relations in Europe, and even terrorist attacks – we want to share the story of one our very own missionaries, Jazz Jones Becker, who was in the soccer stadium that was attacked on November 13, 2015. Jazz has taken the last year to process this tragedy and the implications of her calling as a missionary to France in the face of real danger.

We're excited to share about her new book Worth the Risk, in which she honestly replays the difficult heart-journey and wrestling with God that she did following the attacks.

We want to invite you to listen to an interview we did with Jazz about what it was like writing this book and opening her faith-journey to the world, sharing her life and calling with us. We learn that missionaries aren’t a different breed of Christian – just like anyone who follows Jesus, it takes courage to say “yes” to God at times.

Though we live in a world where danger is a real threat in places like Europe, hear how real faith in a God whose love is greater than fear can transform everything and why Jazz tells us, “It’s worth the risk.”
