As the first nation in the world to make Christianity its official religion and home of the ancient Armenian Apostle Church founded by two of Jesus’ disciples (Thaddaeus and Bartholomew), Armenia has a long-standing and strong historical tie to Christ and the church. 2015 marks the 100 year anniversary of the Armenian genocide where Christians were persecuted and brutally eliminated for professing faith in Jesus. While 95% of Armenians still profess to be Christians, sadly few read the Bible and have a faith that would withstand that kind of testing again.
There is reason for praise with the release of a newly-translated Bible and the hope that it will reignite the spiritual fire of the Armenian people.
